Eligibility and Access

The NHS Pharmacy Contraception Service is available to:

• Individuals seeking to start oral contraception.
• Individuals seeking ongoing supplies of their current oral contraception.

Eligibility criteria include:

• Combined Oral Contraceptive (COC): Available from menarche up to and including 49 years of age.
• Progestogen Only Pill (POP): Available from menarche up to and including 54 years of age.

You do not need to be registered with a GP to access our service. If you choose, we can inform your GP practice that you have accessed our service, ensuring continuity of care.

You can access our service in several ways:

• Self-Referral: Simply book an appointment at Rex Pharmacy.
• Referral from GP or Sexual Health Clinic: Your healthcare provider can refer you to our service.
• Pharmacy Identification: Our pharmacists may identify suitable candidates for the service and offer it to you.
